Preakness Celebration Balloon Festival 2012
PILOT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Commercial Pilot Certificate.
  2. Minimum of 100 hours at LTA/PIC.
  3. Pilots participating for the first time will be required to complete the FAA on-line SFRA Awareness Training for flying in the DC SFRA. Go to: On-Line Course. A Letter of Agreement between the Balloonmeister and the FAA permits our flying during the Preakness event. Each pilot will not be required to have aircraft radio or transponder or individual flight plan.
  4. Sport Balloons will need to fill-in W9 form on-line and email to ronb@ronb.com
  5. Aircraft Airworthiness and Aircraft Log Book. (Will be checked at registration).
  6. All Balloons must arrive fully fueled. (Arrive full - Leave full)
  7. Balloon safety restraint required and must be used on all launch fields.
  8. You must be on time for registration and present for all briefings.
  9. Certificate of Insurance in effect during May 10-12, 2012.

Pilot Responsibility Statement to be signed at check-in on May 10.
OFFICIAL PILOT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY

I am aware and agree with the responsibilities legally transferred to me under the Federal Aviation Regulations regarding my personal decision to fly my balloon and realize that any bodily injury and/or personal damage resultant are my liability. I further agree that flights are not mandatory and that I will make all flights at my option, and my decision as Pilot-in-Command may affect my placement in this event should I chose not to fly.

I agree that the organizers and sponsors of this event are providing me with the facilities and means for my participation and in no way do they supercede the responsibilities of the Pilot-in-Command as shown under FARs.

I release the organizer- Turf Valley and its sub contractors from all liability and risk related to the events including only balloon activities performed under this agreement.

I also acknowledge that as a condition of participation in this event, I am an invited guest of the organizers and sponsors and will abide by all the rules and conditions of the event. As it concerns competitive events if any, I agree to accept the decisions of the judges and the event organizers as final.
